Davies: Patients paying the price for Minister’s waiting times failure

Welsh Conservatives yesterday criticised the Assembly Government over another vast jump in hospital waiting times.

Figures released today show that thousands of patients continue to wait even longer than the maximum waiting time for treatment “standards”.

Commenting on the figures, Shadow Health Minister, Andrew RT Davies AM said:

“Yet again, patients in Wales are paying the price for the Health Minister’s failure over waiting times.

“It is disgraceful that even more people are waiting for treatment and for longer than patients in England.

“It is deeply concerning that waiting times have risen so significantly from last month, with the number waiting over 10 weeks on the outpatient list increasing from 37,288 to 42,506.

“These figures are just the tip of the iceberg and are indicative of the Minister’s inability to get her house in order.

“The Assembly Government must take strong measures to get to grips with the waiting times problem that has plagued Wales for the last decade.

“Patients on those waiting lists deserve better.”
