Edwards proud of his Dragons

Darren Edwards spoke of his pride on Friday night as his reign as permanent head coach of the Dragons started in the best possible way as he guided his side to their first ever double over the Ospreys.

The Dragons 21 v 16 victory at the Liberty Stadium earlier in the season was backed up by their thrilling 32 v 28 win over the Magners League Champions on Friday night and Edwards was delighted with the result.

“I feel very proud right now,” said Edwards.

“I have said to them we need to play rugby to win games and I am really proud of the performance as well as being proud of the group.

“I have got the philosophy that you need to try and make things happen and I think we fully deserved the bonus point victory

“We fully deserved to win what was a thrilling match and we played very well.

“I have total faith in the players, we have got some special players and it’s nice to get some credit for what is happening here.

“There is an ambition and desire to do well and with the stadium upgrade it’s going to be a special future. Our supporters were amazing last night.”
