Lesley Griffiths Praises Concert for Help for Hereos

Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths has praised a ‘magical performance’ of the Rhos Orpheus Male Choir in aid of Help the Heroes, the charity which helps injured UK service personnel.

The concert at St Giles Parish Church, was attended by local dignitaries and members of the public alongside representatives of the Armed Forces. Lesley Griffiths AM joined the audience, meeting with other music lovers and members of the choir.  The Rhos Orpheus Male choir generously provided their services for free on the evening.

The internationally renowned choir performed items from their repertoire including inventive interpretations alongside well known favourites and traditional Welsh themes. The concert also featured solo items from popular tenor Alf Gladman and the BBC Radio 2s ‘Kiri prize’ semi finalist, soprano Hannah Bradbury.

The concert raised money through a £10 ticket fee, donations and sponsorships of £50 from local businesses and has raised in excess of £1500 for Help the Heroes so far, with some receipts still to be counted.

Lesley commented on the evening, saying:

“The performance was magical and it is always great to see people getting together for such a good cause.

“It is fantastic that the choir have given their time for free.  The choir is well known for its charitable work over many years.  People and organisations getting together for a cause like this is what Wrexham is all about”
