Plaid Members Select Ben Foday for Cardiff North

Plaid Cymru members in Cardiff North have selected Ben Foday as the party’s candidate for Cardiff North at May’s Assembly elections.

Ben, married with three daughters, was born and educated in Sierra Leone in West Africa but has lived in the capital for more than 30 years.

Ben said: “I’m delighted to be chosen by party members in Cardiff North as its candidate for the Assembly elections.

“As someone who has come to Wales from outside, I know that Plaid is the only party that puts Wales first every time and does not have to defer to political masters in London as Labour and the Conservatives do.

“I trust the people of Cardiff North to remember the financial mess New Labour left the UK in together with the spending cuts imposed by the UK Coalition Government and then support the Party of Wales, Plaid Cymru,” added Ben.

Ben, who served as a Labour councillor in Cardiff for six years between 1993 and 1999, has been a Plaid member for four years. He was director of the New Employ Wales for 20 years.

Ceri Morgan, chairman of Plaid’s Cardiff North Constituency Party, said: “Ben is an excellent candidate who is already working hard in the constituency to get the Plaid message over on issues such as jobs, the economy and health.”
