Rhyl Inshore lifeboat crew save girl stranded on rock groyne

The local CCTV control  in Rhyl, reported to Holyhead coastguard station, that 2 young girls were stranded on the rock groynes out from the Nova Centre, Prestatyn, and beach lifeguards and members of the public were swimming out to rescue them.

The volunteer lifeboat crew were paged and the inshore lifeboat was launched some 5 minutes later, getting to Prestatyn 6 minutes after that.

On arrival on scene, one of the girls had been assisted ashore by the lifeguard and the public, and  they were in shallow water, but one girl was still on the rocks. The lifeboat approached and successfully got the girl off. She was suffering from hypothermia and had numerous cuts to her legs from clambering on the rocks.

The crew took her ashore and met up with local coastguards and an ambulance crew. The girl rescued by the ILB was taken to hospital , and the crew returned to station at 1305.
