Rivals seeking first scalp

Without a win between them this season, Gogledd Cymru Under 18s and the Dragons have plenty to play for in Sunday’s WRU Age Grade Championship game at Colwyn Bay RFC.

The North Wales side have lost all three games so far this season including a 58-0 reverse against the Blues last time out. However, on home soil against the Ospreys last month, they performed with great enterprise and deep-seated determination before going down 37-12.

Alex Schwarz and Tom Parry were on the mark with tries that day and both play in a Gogledd side who will hope to catch cold the visiting Dragons.

For the Gwent region, it has been a similar start to the year, although defeats against the Scarlets and Ospreys have been far from emphatic. A try from Alec North and two penalties from Sam Bevan, who reverts to the bench on Sunday, helped the side finish within six points of the Scarlets on the opening night, whilst a Matt O’Brien try and three Bevan penalties earned a great deal of respactability as the side went down 28-16 to the Ospreys two weeks ago.

Neither side will be winning the competition this season, but both will be seeking a marked improvement as they go in search of a first victory of the campaign.
