Royal Wedding Fever Grips Wales

The forthcoming nuptials between Prince William Wales and Catherine Middleton have whipped up a frenzy of excitement here in Wales. Kate and Wills who plan to live on Anglesey after the wedding are causing a furore all across the ‘Principality’.

On the Gurnos estate in Merthyr Tydfil sales of super-strong cider have shot up by 50% today as many people prepare to toast the happy couple. On the other hand it could just be because most residents received their benefits a day early due to the double bank holiday.

In Splott, Cardiff, Mrs Edith Tupwitt has hung her Charles and Diana tea towel in the front window of her two-up-two-down.

Elsewhere, in Crickhowell, Powys former nanny to the Prince – Shân (Tiggy) Legge-Bourke-Julian-Pettifer is also preparing for the big day. Her son Tom has been asked to be a page boy at the big event and BBC Wales think that this is a major news story.

We have been led to understand that Plaid candidate and former assembly member for the South Wales Central region (that’s the Rhondda), Leanne Wood is beside herself in the run up to the event. A spokesman for a rival party told us:

Ms Wood is so excited we believe that she even did a little wee after watching the BBC 24 hour news this evening”.

The Windsor’s connections with Wales go back decades to the time before they had to change their name from ‘Saxe-Coburg and Gotha’ because it sounded a bit foreign.

What are you doing for the big day? We’d love to hear from you and see your photographs.
