Stoddart in for injured scarlet Jones

Morgan Stoddart has been called into Wales‘ Invesco Perpetual Series Squad as a replacement for fellow Scarlet Mark Jones, who was ruled out of the campaign early this week with a knee injury.

Stoddart will report for Wales squad training on Thursday, but will be released back to his region for their LV Cup clash with Harlequins at the Stoop on Sunday, November 8, before rejoining Warren Gatland’s national squad the following Tuesday as they prepare for the second game of the Series against Samoa.

“Morgan is an intelligent attacking player who will provide cover for us across the back three,” said Wales assistant coach Rob Howley.

“He is a player we know very well and just as importantly he knows our squad environment very well and should be able to slot into things fairly quickly.”

Stoddart last played for Wales in their victory over Canada during the Invesco Perpetual Series 2008 and won his other two international caps against South Africa, making his debut against the Springboks on Wales’ summer tour in 2007.
