‘Work together regionally, deliver together locally’ South West Wales Regional Learning Partnership will urge delegates at its first event

The Regional Learning Partnership Forum for South West Wales is holding an event ‘Working Together Regionally; Delivering Together Locally’ to showcase opportunities for collaboration across the region. The event will be held on Monday March 22nd in Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli and the opening address will be given by Leighton Andrews, Minister for Children, Education and Lifelong Learning.

Karl Napieralla OBE, Director of Education, Lifelong Learning and Leisure, Neath Port Talbot County Council will speak at the event and said:

“This event, which is the first of its kind, will bring together delegates from a variety of sectors across the region including the public sector, third sector and the further and higher education sectors as well as key stakeholders such as careers Wales West and Jobcentre plus. The aim of the event is to showcase the opportunities for collaboration which already exist but to also signpost delegates to future opportunities which may arise.”

“The Regional Learning Partnership for South West Wales has a remit to ensure publicly funded learning providers and associated organisations work collaboratively and efficiently to improve the effectiveness of public services in the region and meet the needs of learners in South West Wales. This event provides an opportunity to demonstrate the important and diverse role of the Partnership in supporting the region with its Learning and Skills agenda.”

Dave Gilbert, Director of Regeneration and Leisure, Carmarthenshire County Council added:

“By bringing together delegates from a variety of different sectors across the region, this event will further demonstrate the need for us to all work together as a Partnership, to tackle the issues confronting the economy of South West Wales.”

A specific aim of the event is to encourage collaboration between the education and regeneration agenda’s and the event includes presentations on the key issues facing Education and Lifelong Learning and Regeneration. Delegates will also be given the chance to take part in a choice of workshops relating to these topics.
