“Exemplary” shortlist unveiled for Welsh PR awards

Nearly 30 public relations teams across Wales are set to battle it out in this year’s Welsh Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards.

The shortlist of 71 entries has now been announced for the 19 award categories which will celebrate the best of the PR industry in the last year. There are 27 Welsh PR consultancies, in-house teams and public sector organisations in this year’s shortlist for the hotly contested 2011 CIPR Cymru PRide Awards

Equinox Communications has led this year’s shortlist with 11 nominations followed by Golley Slater Wales with 10 entries shortlisted. In the public sector, Carmarthenshire County Council and Office of National Statistics led the way with three nominations each, closely followed with two nominations each by Dyfed Powys Police, Newport City Council, Public Health Wales and, partnering on a number of campaigns, the Welsh Government.

Carmarthenshire County Council and Office of National Statistics are in contention for the title of In-House PR Team of the Year, while nominations for Outstanding PR Consultancy Award are Equinox Communications, Freshbaked PR, Freshwater Wales and Golley Slater Wales.

The voluntary sector is also well represented this year with shortlisted entries for Macmillan Cancer Care, British Heart Foundation and Tŷ Hafan.

Designed to recognise excellence and reward achievement in public relations and communications, the CIPR PRide Awards are now in their eighth year in Wales. The judging process is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners.

CIPR Cymru Wales chair Val Bodden, said: “The CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and campaigns from the profession across Wales. To be shortlisted for an Award demonstrates exemplary achievement, impact and value – immediately putting their work in the spotlight. Congratulations to everyone for reaching this stage.”

The PRide Award winners in Wales will be announced at a black tie dinner in the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff on October 28.
