e-Business Roadshow

Wales’ very first Innovation & e-Business Roadshow will travel to 5 locations across the country during February and March of this year and is an opportunity for businesses of all sizes to speak with and gain information from experts in many areas of business development, including Innovation, e-Business, e-Security and future technologies – for free

The content of the roadshow has been created following input from over 200 innovative and proactive businesses and will look to cover these key areas:

  • e-Crime
  • Social networking
  • e-Business
  • Future technologies
  • Collaboration
  • Business innovation

A staggering 25 per cent of Welsh businesses were a victim of e-Crime last year. As we have seen in news headlines up and down the country the effects have been devastating in terms of loss of reputation, downtime and business continuity, which directly impacts on a businesses bottom line. The increasing threat of e-Crime has caused unnecessary headaches to business owners, large and small, who need to concentrate more than ever on running their business.
The fact that crime has found its way onto the internet should not be a shock to anyone, but what is concerning is a lack of awareness about what constitutes an “e-Crime”, and what people should do to protect themselves and their businesses.

In this session our e-Crime expert will bring to the table the top threats for 2010 and look at what practical steps businesses, like yourselves, can take to protect their future.

Data Protection
To coincide with this, a representative from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) will be advising businesses on their responsibilities and obligations when it comes to data protection.

According to the ICO all public and private organizations are legally obliged to protect any personal information they hold, whether it be on their customers or even their own staff.
Many businesses may be intimidated by what they might see as potential costs or the time it may take to set up such data security precautions. The question is; have you considered the consequences and potential impact of data loss? Can you afford for this data to fall into the wrong hands?

After this session, your business will have a greater understanding of the rules, regulations and responsibilities for dealing with personal data, which will help your business remain secure and on the right side of the law.
