St David’s lifeboat takes injured sailor ashore

On Monday August 16th at 2:20pm St Davids RNLI all-weather lifeboat (ALB), under the command of deputy second coxswain Ian Gray, launched on service to the aid of an injured seaman. The seaman was on the oil tanker Minerva Anna that was anchored on the south side of St Brides Bay.

The seaman had suffered severe arm injuries while working in the engine room of the tanker, and needed to be evacuated for hospital treatment.

Once on scene the lifeboat took the casualty and one of his fellow crew members off the tanker and returned to the lifeboat station. At the lifeboat station, ambulance paramedics were there to meet them and convey the casualty to Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.

The lifeboat rehoused at 3:25pm.
