Swansea Council had to close a road following a landslip.
Emergency measures are being put into action along a section of Trewyddfa Road to enable repairs to take place. The road was closed on Wednesday, November 25.
Ward members in Landore and Mynyddbach have met with Cllr John Hague, the Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, to discuss the road closure.
Cllr Hague said: “The section of road affected by the landslip has become increasingly worse and it would be irresponsible if we were to ignore the issue.
“We now need to close the road completely to protect motorists from being put at risk and to enable us to carry out the necessary repairs.
“I have recently met with a number of ward members who are all very supportive of the need to carry out this work as a matter of urgency.”
Carl Humphrey, Head of Highways in Swansea Council, said: “The safety of road users and residents is paramount so the Council is acting immediately to close the road in an effort to reduce the risk of further landslips.
“A section of the road between the junctions with Salem Road and Mynydd Garnllwyd Road will now be closed to traffic until we can complete the repairs and make the area safe again. Residents in the area will still have vehicle access.”
Ward members involved in the discussions with Cllr Hague include Landore Councillors Viv Abbott and Rob Speht, and Mynyddbach Councillors Audrey Clement, Byron Owen and Ceinwen Thomas.
