Just over 95% (9,787) of Tir Mynydd 2011 claimants have been paid a total of £23.18 million.
The Welsh Assembly Government received a total of 10,247 valid Tir Mynydd applications in May 2010. The Scheme is available to farmers who farm in the Less Favoured Areas of Wales and who have maintained beef and/or sheep at a minimum stocking density of 0.1 livestock units throughout 2010.
Wales’ Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones, said:
“I am pleased that such a high percentage of Tir Mynydd claimants will have received their payments by 1 March, the first day on which payments are made.
“‘The high number of payments made demonstrates the dedication of staff in Rural Payments Wales to helping farmers in these difficult economic times.”
