Wrexham Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths has welcomed the publication of an independent report on Wales’ public services.
The Welsh Government established a commission, chaired by Sir Paul Williams, in April 2013 to independently review all aspects of Wales’ public services to see how they are currently working and how they can be better improved in the future.
The Commission on Public Service Governance and Delivery has spent eight months collecting evidence to produce a robust report and develop an optimal model of public service governance and delivery.
A major recommendation proposed by the commission in their report suggests councils in Wales should merge leaving 10, 11 or 12 local authorities, rather than the current 22. From a local perspective, the report argues Wrexham and Flintshire Councils should merge to create one local authority.
