Cardiff schoolchildren are being treated to highly entertaining and informative workshops on recycling their waste and issues that impact our local environment such as littering and dog fouling by the talented Gregory Brothers as part of our Really Rubbish schools campaign.
Cabinet member for Environment, Cllr Ashley Govier said:
‘The Gregory Brothers’ programme is great fun with a serious message and the kids are responding brilliantly to it. It’s inspiring pupils to have pride in Cardiff and hopefully will reduce the incidents of littering and dog fouling as well as increasing the recycling and reuse rate across the City. Education is our principal method of preventing littering and increasing reuse and recycling and it’s vital to reach out to primary school children as they are very receptive and care deeply about their local environment.’
The theatrical show encourages the proper disposal of waste, maximising the use of recycling and reuse opportunities and raises awareness of environmental issues local to Cardiff and Wales. The Gregory Brothers are performing this educational programme across 23 lucky schools in Cardiff reaching out to hundreds of pupils in the process.
The acting head teacher of Ysgol Glan Morfa was delighted with the show. She said:
‘Both staff and children enjoyed the show immensely! The ‘Gregory Brothers’ captured the attention of all, from Reception to Year 6. Without a doubt this was a fantastic and enjoyable way of highlighting the importance of rubbish and recycling for all.’
