The project to improve Bodnant Community School has taken two significant steps this month.
The funding agreement has been signed confirming Welsh Government?s contribution and an application for planning permission has been submitted.
The project to extend and refurbish the Key Stage 2 site on Nant Hall Road at the Bodnant Community School in Prestatyn will cost an estimated £3.4m. The Welsh Government has committed to fund almost half of that total from the 21st Century Schools programme. The rest will be funded by Denbighshire County Council. When completed, the project will, provide a new building for Foundation Phase pupils, provide a new reception area and a school hall whilst refurbishing the existing Key Stage 2 building.
The planning application for the scheme has now been submitted and it is hoped that planning approval will be granted in September this year. All of this could mean that, subject to planning, building works could start on site in January 2015.
If you would like to see more details, you can view the documents submitted for the planning application by visiting the planning section of their website: www.denbighshire.gov.uk and entering the following reference in the search facility: 43/2014/0664
Plans are available to view at Prestatyn Library for the next few weeks to ensure that local residents and members of the community are aware of the plans and changes that will be happening on the school site to bring this exciting project to reality.
