Commenting on the statement on social services in Swansea by the Deputy Minister for Social Services, Shadow Minister for Health Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“I support the actions that have been taken to rectify the shortcomings in children’s services in the Swansea area.
“We cannot underestimate the importance of children’s services to any local authority.
“Reports last week about events in Swansea graphically illustrate what happens when things go wrong in children’s services.
“Such tragedies must not be repeated.
“I commend the work that has been carried out to date but recognise that these green shoots must now grow into a sustainable service that operates robustly and effectively.
“Considerable work and resources are needed to ensure this can happen and the key stakeholders cannot shirk away from their responsibilities.”
