The first celebratory event to recognise the achievements of Looked After Children was held last week by Pembrokeshire County Council.
The committee rooms at County Hall had a party atmosphere with councillors, social workers, foster carers, teachers, council officers, and friends coming together to celebrate achievements ranging from GCSE results to equestrian qualifications and sailing honours.
Young people attended from all over the county, from the youngest aged six, to older teenagers who have left school.
All recipients received a certificate of achievement, a Pembrokeshire County Council Medal, and a book token.
The evening was organised and hosted by Wyn Harries, Advisory Teacher for Looked After Children, with the awards presented by Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Learning and the Welsh Language.
The event was a resounding success and will now become an annual event in the Council’s calendar.
Entertainment was provided by Wings over Pembrokeshire, whose covers of rock classics led to plenty of dancing in the aisles!
