Update from Detective Superintendent Peter Chalinor, Senior Investigating Officer:
“The response we have had from local people has been tremendous and has helped the investigation team to build up a picture of the hours leading up to Ffion leaving the Union public house.
“Over the past few days we have received many calls from people wanting to help, many have provided valuable information and photographs taken on Friday night.
“The person or persons responsible have as yet not been arrested and the large scale investigation is continuing. People in the area need to be reassured that incidents like this are extremely rare and that there is nothing at the moment to suggest that this incident is related to any other. We currently have a highly visible and increased police presence in the town and I hope local people will be reassured by this.
“Tonight local officers will be handing out leaflets to people attending a Porthmadog FC match appealing for anyone with any information to contact us on 01745 538474 or by simply dialling 101.”
