Gillan: Brown’s visit to Wales is a reminder of 13 wasted years

Commenting on Gordon Brown’s visit to Wales today, Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Cheryl Gillan said:

“It took 15 days for Mr Brown to find his way to Wales after calling the election. In that time David Cameron has been twice, visiting both north and south Wales.

“Gordon Brown and Labour continue to take Wales for granted. For them, Wales is the great ignored country.

“We will continue to remind people that 13 wasted years of Labour government has left Wales with high and rising unemployment, one in three children living in poverty, a widening wealth gap, poorer standards in health and education, and a weak economy.

“Five more years of Gordon Brown will mean more of the same – with a tax on jobs which will kill the recovery.

“Gordon Brown’s visit to Wales is a reminder of all the problems we face today and how only the Conservatives guarantee change at this election.

“We have the energy, leadership and values to get the economy moving, mend our broken society and clean up politics.”
