Gillan & Melding: Talent goes to waste as Welsh unemployment rises again

Commenting on today’s unemployment figures, Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Cheryl Gillan said:

“These figures are devastating for the individuals and families across Wales who have been affected by Labour’s failure to get to grips with unemployment.

“That’s why we are even more determined to stop Labour’s jobs tax.

“In the last year 22,000 more people have joined Gordon Brown’s growing number of unemployed in Wales.

“Wales is suffering disproportionately from rising unemployment, accounting for almost a quarter of all UK jobs lost in the last three months.

“For far too long Labour has allowed the talent, commitment and dedication of Welsh workers to go to waste.

“Conservatives will get Wales working again by encouraging enterprise, stopping Labour’s jobs tax, cutting the deficit, attracting investment, and tackling worklessness.”

Shadow Minister for the Economy David Melding AM said:

“It is deeply concerning that unemployment in Wales remains at such a high level.”
