A special workshop is being arranged in Rhyl as part of a major campaign to change perceptions of the town.
Rhyl is one of four towns involved in the BRAND project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (EDRF) through the Ireland Wales Programme (INTERREG 4A). The other towns are Holyhead, Athy and Dun Laoghaire in the Irish Republic.
All four towns have a history of regeneration projects, and all four have difficulties with the way in which they are perceived by residents, businesses, tourism/hospitality sector and other opinion formers.
A workshop at the Pavilion Theatre, Rhyl on Monday, 24 May, starting at 9.30am and ending at 4pm, will allow people to help shape and develop a place branding strategy for Rhyl.
Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: “This exciting programme is designed to give us a more competitive and higher profile, help to better position us within the economic development sector and make better use of the assets of our area.
“Within the programme we are working hard to involve different groups, decision makers and influencers in developing our new and forward looking approach. We want people to help us create a stretching, distinct, measurable and simple statement of ambition for our area while identifying our positive assets and experiences. It is intended that our newly created brand will be the means to our achieving the vision”.
