Commenting ahead of tomorrow’s third anniversary of the Labour-Plaid Cymru coalition government in the National Assembly, Opposition leader Nick Bourne AM said:
“While this coalition has provided stability it has fallen well-short of providing the long-term strategy needed for Wales.
“It has failed to set out a coherent vision for developing a strong and stable economy which embraces the private sector and reduces the gap between rich and poor.
“It has not adequately introduced measures to ensure patients in Wales are treated as quickly as those in England, or for spending per pupil in Wales to match that across the border so that educational standards here rise year on year.
“Despite the much-vaunted partnership between Labour in Cardiff and Labour at Westminster, there was no significant progress on constitutional issues until the coalition government in London picked up the gauntlet after the General Election.
“The Labour-Plaid coalition is a partnership which promised much but has delivered much of the same we experienced when Labour governed alone.
“The two parties have missed an opportunity to do something different, to push devolution to the limit, and to deliver real change in Wales.”
