Family history surgery at the history fair

A surgery is being held for family history enthusiasts at Haverfordwest Reference and Local Studies Library on Saturday 11th September.

Tina Webb, the tutor of Pembrokeshire County Council’s Family History Classes will be on hand to offer advice to anyone having problems with their research.

Library and Record Office staff will also be available to offer further guidance and outline the resources that are available for use.

Appointments are limited (being run from 9.30 am until 12 noon) and are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

All those wishing to book an appointment will be asked to complete and return a queries form by Thursday 2nd September.

The Surgery is being organised jointly by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Information and Cultural Services Department and the Pembrokeshire Affiliation of Local History Societies, as part of The History Fair 2010.

The Fair will be running on Thursday 9th and Saturday 11th September at Haverfordwest Library, and is being organised to celebrate 900 years of history of the county town.

In addition to the Family History Surgery, the History Fair is to include:

  • a series of talks by well known local historians on different aspects of the town’s history  (on the evening of the 9th & afternoon of the 11th)
  • a Schools Day with local author Phil Carradice (by appointment only, on the 9th)
  • a range of displays and stands by local groups on this theme in the Library Gallery (11th).
