The North Wales Criminal Justice Board wants to recognise people and groups who have gone the extra mile for the Criminal Justice System.
The North Wales Volunteer & Community Justice Awards is an annual campaign recognising outstanding achievements by staff and volunteers across the criminal justice system.
Nominations could be for individuals or groups going the extra mile in their work. It could be one person, or it could be a whole team of people. The awards are there to thank ordinary people who’ve achieved extraordinary results.
Anyone can nominate, from colleagues and associates to friends, family or members of the public. Those who have been a witness or victim of crime may want to nominate as a way of thanking those who helped them through the criminal justice system. Nominations are also welcome from voluntary organisations working with victims, witnesses, defendants or offenders.
Chief Constable Mark Polin, Chair of the North Wales Criminal Justice Board, feels that the level of dedication and commitment shown by volunteers and staff working in the criminal justice system in North Wales should not go unnoticed. He said: “The Justice Awards give us an important opportunity to recognise and thank those people who give so much to the criminal justice system. Last year we received over 60 nominations, and I hope to see even more this year, in particular from the communities where our staff and volunteers are really making a difference.”
There are 9 categories this year for both individual and team nominations:
- Volunteer working with victims or witnesses
- Volunteer working with offenders
- Rehabilitation award
- Young person, aged 25 or below, who volunteers their time to make a positive difference to their community
- Volunteer long service award
- Individual who has shown outstanding contribution to tackling youth crime (young person under the age of 18)
- Individual who has shown outstanding commitment to diversity
- Individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to engaging local communities and improving public confidence in the NW CJS
- Individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to promoting the use of the Welsh language and bilingualism within the justice sector
