Broadcaster and Author Mavis Nicolson visits NPT Libraries

Throughout September and October Neath Port Talbot Libraries have scheduled a series of exciting events. Building on the success of 2008’s National Year of Reading the “Meet the Author” programme will again feature a range of writers, storytellers and for the first time, a one act play.

Amongst the writers taking part are international science fiction star Alistair Reynolds, crime writer Stephen Booth, best selling writer Sarah Jackman and legendary Briton Ferry born Mavis Nicolson.

For the first time Neath Port Talbot Libraries will present a one act play by Ray Williams “Close The Lid Igor” performed by Fluellen Theatre Company which will be staged over two month period at eight libraries with further performances to be confirmed.

Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Ali Thomas, said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to take part in local cultural events and meet an array of excellent authors.

Neath Port Talbot libraries have developed a reputation across Wales for its innovative methods of engaging the community and encourage all members of our communities to come along and see for themselves what’s on offer for free on their own doorsteps”

The first event will take place on Thursday 9th September at Briton Ferry Library at 6.30pm with Sarah Jackman.

Mavis Nicolson will appear at Neath Library on 23rd September at 6.30pm.
