Help for talented Torfaen youngsters

Calling all talented Torfaen youngsters!

If you are under 25, live in the borough and excel in music or arts then you could be eligible for a grant award through the Torfaen Young People’s Music and Arts Trust.

The Trust was originally set up by Cllr Collette Thomas when she was Mayor to cultivate and develop the artistic skills of young people in Torfaen.

After helping 11 musicians follow their dreams this summer the Trust is now inviting applications for the next round of music and arts trust grant awards.

Throughout the summer Torfaen youngsters Kieran Mahoney, James Jones, Nia Sandiford, Bethan Eveleigh, Lawrence Mansell, Alys Jones, Bridget Mansfield, Daisy Evans, Rowena Mayo, Katie White and Tyler Holpin were all able to attend relevant courses to improve their skills.

To follow in their footsteps call Trust Administrator Verity Hiscocks on 01633 628968 or visit the Leisure and Culture area of the website.

“The Torfaen Young People’s Music and Arts Trust has already given youngsters from all over the borough the chance to pursue their dreams,” said Cllr Cunningham, Torfaen council’s executive member for Neighbourhood Services.

“I would encourage anyone under the age of 25 with a passion for music or the arts to get in touch today – with a little help from the Trust you could be the next big thing.”

Closing dates for applications is Thursday, September 30.
