Operation Jupiter Nets Stolen Goods

Police have arrested three people in connection to a commercial burglary that took place in the early hours of Saturday 25th September in the Caerau area of Maesteg.

During the break-in, four individuals at the Filco store on Hermon Road helped themselves to cigarettes and tobacco, and following intelligence, officers conducted a warrant at an address in Caerau the following day.

Three men aged 36, 25 and 15 were arrested as a result and stolen items were recovered from the property. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Another warrant was also conducted in the Caerau area in connection with a burglary that was committed in the Llangynwyd area of Bridgend sometime during 22nd – 24th September, in which a number of gardening items with a value of almost £2000 were stolen.

A 31 year old male was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries and property recovered.

A 42 year old male and a 28 year old female were also arrested during the warrant in connection with a theft. They have both been charged and were remanded in police custody.

These arrests form part of ‘Operation Jupiter’, in which a team of officers dedicated solely to investigating incidents of burglary has been set up to catch and apprehend those responsible for committing crime in Central Division.

DCI Lorraine Davies said: “Operation Jupiter was initiated to tackle burglaries across the division, and proactive policing will very much remain central to the work we do in investigating these offences and catching perpetrators.

“These results should send out a strong message to anyone thinking of committing burglary – we will pursue you robustly so justice can be done.”

Anyone with information on crime is urged to contact police on 101 or alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
