Monmouthshire Libraries to entice the Internet-shy

Monmouthshire’s Library Service has a mission – to encourage the Internet-shy to log onto the web. Working in conjunction with the BBC’s First Click Campaign libraries have organised a series of drop-in sessions when people who currently shun the Internet can understand and enjoy its benefits.

Each Monmouthshire library is running six weekly introductory computer and Internet courses aimed at any age. These will run through November to December.

Principal Librarian, Ann Jones said: “Public Library Services have a long established partnership with the BBC. We are working closely together in all four home countries to find more ways of sharing information and learning opportunities with people throughout the United Kingdom”.

Places are limited so booking is essential. Further sessions may be available in 2011.
