Best in Region Exemplar Award

Neath Port Talbot Council has won a prestigious award for its corner stone property gazetteer system.

The Council was crowned Best In Wales in the 2010 Exemplar Award in recognition of the consistently high quality and accuracy of its Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG).

It was also one of 30 councils across the UK who were commended for achieving the highest Gold standard.

This high quality local data is pooled at a national hub to produce the National Land and Property Gazetteer which is then used by many other organisations’ computer systems.

Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said, “We are extremely proud of the team involved for winning an award they rightly deserve. To be recognised for their hard work and diligence on such an important database from a peer organisation is a tremendous accolade”.

IT Customer Services Manager, Phil Hopkins, added, “The success of the gazetteer is of significant importance not just in underpinning service delivery within the Council but also increasingly to a variety of organisations across all sectors in Wales.

“Supporting this objective is a Welsh Assembly Government initiative that sees the development of LLPG’s as key ‘building blocks’ to achieving a more joined-up cross-sector collaborative approach for access to public services.”
