Denbighshire Library Service is running BBC First Click introductory computer and internet sessions aimed at people aged 55 and over who have never used a computer.
60 people have already signed up for the sessions. The courses will be held during November and December at Prestatyn, Rhuddlan, St Asaph, Ruthin and Llangollen libraries.
The course has been developed using research which shows that this audience wants to be taken step by step through the basics and includes 3 sessions:
- Session 1: Come along and meet other people like you. Chat to staff and fellow learners about what you want to achieve using the internet.
- Session 2: Get to grips with computer basics – using a keyboard and mouse for the first time, understanding icons and sending and receiving email.
- Session 3: Exploring the internet – learn how to use a web browser and search engines using themes such as local history, genealogy and saving money.
Each session will be informal and there will be plenty of opportunity for discussion. Computer use is free at all libraries, no excuse for not practising! The course will be repeated in January. If you want to find out dates or have any other enquiries, either call in at any of the libraries or contact Lucy Williams, Information Services Manager, on 01824 708206.
