Appeal for missing Anglesey teenager

North Wales Police are appealing for information after a 19 year old teenager went missing at Menai Bridge in the early hours of Tuesday, December the 28th.

A major air, sea and land search was launched for Joe Hughes from Dwyran, Anglesey, who was last seen near the Shell Garage in Menai Bridge at 12.30am.

Inspector Gareth Evans said that they were contacted after a resident living next to the Menai Straits heard cries from the water at around 3am and friends of the missing man had become concerned for him.

He said that despite a major search the teenager had not yet been found and they were continuing with the search.

He said: “The police helicopter has been searching the Menai Straits at low tide this morning and we are carrying out more enquiries with friends, family and local businesses.”

“We are very concerned for him and we are now renewing an appeal for anyone in the Menai Bridge area during the early hours of Tuesday the 28th of December, particularly in the area from the Shell Garage to the suspension bridge to come forward if they saw anything unusual or a young man matching the following description.

“Slim build, black hair, with lots of freckles on his face and wearing a black and white shirt and grey jeans.”
