More than a dozen tourist attractions in Rhondda Cynon Taf have made it into a list of the top places to visit in the Valleys.
Rough Guide author Mike Parker has teamed up with The Valleys Heart and Soul campaign to create the ‘Top 50 Valleys Essentials’ list, which includes must-see heritage attractions, places to eat, events and scenic walks.
Attractions in Rhondda Cynon Taf which have made it into the list include Rhondda Heritage Park, Dare Valley Country Park and the Taff Trail. Now Rhondda Cynon Taf residents are being encouraged to vote for the attractions on the list, or for their own favourite places in the county which aren’t included, for the ‘People’s Choice’.
To vote for your favourite, visit www.thevalleys.co.uk/top50 by February 1, 2010. The final list will be revealed in March and a special plaque will be awarded to the Top 10 Essentials.
Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Cllr Robert Bevan, said: “We are delighted that so many of the great places to visit in our county have made it on the list.
“The Council’s Tourism team and I encourage people to take the time to vote for places such as Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Barry Sidings Countryside Park or Aberdare Park if they feel should be included for the People’s Choice.”
