AM Announced as President of Cardiff Naturalists

An Assembly Member will be presented with a presidential chain of Cardiff Naturalists’ Society on Monday 17th of January.

The group is one of the longest established wildlife organisations in the area having been formed in 1867.

Plaid Cymru AM Chris Franks, who represents Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taf said: “I am honoured to be the President of Cardiff Naturalists Society. Nature and biodiversity are close to my heart so this is a great thrill to be president this year. In modern times the group has been a place for people with a wide interest in all aspects of wildlife as it has a varied programme of lectures and field visits.”

Chris Franks AM is a member of RSPB Cymru and the Plaid representative on the National Assembly’s Cross Party Group for Biodiversity.

Andy Kendall, Publicity Officer and himself a former President of the Cardiff Naturalists Society said “We are immensely proud that Chris Franks has agreed to be our president. He is well known to members of our society as a keen and enthusiastic naturalist with a keen active interest in local wildlife and environmental causes”.
