Next Generation of Fairy Stories comes to Blackwood

Family fun and wacky adventures will be the order of the day later this month, when ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ comes to town!

Based on five short stories created by children from UK primary schools and adapted by professional storytellers, ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ is an enthralling family show that includes puppetry, live music, magic, and plenty of audience participation.

Highly acclaimed children’s production company Snail Tales will be bringing the show to Blackwood Miners’ Institute on Saturday 29th January at 1.30pm.

In ‘A Little Bird Told Me’, wizards, witches and magical animals join boys and girls on crazy quests and wacky adventures. Sometimes moral, sometimes delightfully absurd, but always colourful, curious and fun, this insight into the world of the modern child’s imagination – from helpful gazelles to dragon poo – is a treat for the whole family.

Ann Stromais, General Manager of the Angles Theatre in Wisbech, which recently hosted the ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ production, explains why this show is so engaging.

She said, ‘We all know that children have a wonderful imagination – an ordinary event can be transformed into an exciting adventure in the blink of an eye.  Add ‘Snail Tales’ into the mix and even the most sceptical adult will succumb. The lively stories invented by children were vividly brought to life by the talented performers, whose professionalism was only outshone by their enthusiasm!’

Tickets for ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ at Blackwood Miners’ Institute are £5.50 for adults, £4.50 for concessions including children, and £18.00 for a family ticket.

The show runs for 60-70 minutes and is suitable for ages 3-11 and families.
