The body of a man has been recovered from floodwater near Llandrillo, Corwen, following an extensive search and rescue operation by emergency services.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 10.28hrs on Sunday 6th February after North Wales Police received a call from a member of the public reporting a vehicle submerged on the B4401.
Fire and rescue crews from Bala and Betws y Coed conducted a search of the area and the body of a 58 year old man was located a short distance from the vehicle and recovered from the water.
It is still too early to say what happened although it would appear that the deceased, who is from the local area, was the driver of the vehicle.
North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been dealing with several flooding and bad weather related incidents throughout the day and issued a warning to the public to take care.
Mark Kassab from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “If faced with flooding conditions where there is any doubt at all whether you or your vehicle can get through – then it is best not to make any attempt whatsoever to get through.”
Superintendent Jeremy Vaughan from North Wales Police said: “This is a tragic incident and the police are liaising with the man’s family. It emphasises the need to be extremely cautious in such adverse weather conditions and members of the public are advised to check weather conditions before making a journey.”
