Asghar urges Assembly Government to follow up all Ryder Cup contacts

Mohammad Asghar, Shadow Minister for Heritage & Equality, has urged the Assembly Government to follow up on all contacts established during the Ryder Cup to ensure the Welsh economy gains maximum possible, long-lasting benefits.

Speaking in the Senedd, Mr Asghar said: “The legacy left by the Ryder Cup will prove crucial for the long-term future of the tourism industry in South Wales East”.

He added that whilst he looked forward to the publication of findings from a Ryder Cup economic impact study on March 23rd, he also hoped that the full effect of the Ryder Cup “goes well beyond any initial economic boost and provides a lasting legacy for the nation and … region”.

Mr Asghar asked the First Minister to provide an update on discussions he has had with Assembly Government colleagues and Visit Wales “to ensure that contacts made during the Ryder Cup, notably with tourism operators from the United States … are properly followed up for the benefit of the Welsh economy.”
