Barperson of the Year

A Team Leader from popular Cardiff Bay bar Terra Nova has been rewarded with an ‘Oscar of the pub industry’.

Barperson of the Year 2011On Wednesday evening (6th March) Rebecca Jones of the Brains owned Terra Nova was crowned ‘Bar Person of the Year’ at the 2011 Publican Awards. Presenting her with the award was comedian Dara O’Brien, who hosted the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.

Matt Eley from The Publican said: “The judges were impressed by Rebecca’s maturity at a young age and with her handling of situations. Her career progression has been fantastic and she has been willing to sacrifice status for experience.”

Speaking of the Publican award, Philip Lay, Retail Director at Brains said: “To be named the best par person in the UK is a huge achievement. Rebecca is a fantastic team leader and delivers superb customer experiences everyday and it’s great to see her hard work rewarded and talent recognised.

“This is the second year running that one of our bar staff have won this prestigious award and it goes to show the emphasis we put on training and development is really paying off. Our staff are our greatest asset and we want to help them be the best they can possibly be.”
