Cardiff Council is offering community groups the opportunity to apply for funding for their projects.
Community Building Grants worth up to £5,000 are available to voluntary sector community groups for improvements to their community buildings.
Projects eligible for funding must fall under one of the following categories:
- Enhancement or improvement of the structure of the building
- Upgrading of fire safety provisions, health and safety/security provisions
- New kitchens or toilet facilities.
- Improving accessibility into and within the building
- Upgrading of electrical, drainage and lighting systems
- Installation of double glazing windows and doors
- Installation of energy efficiency measures
Those applying will need to show how their grant will be used to benefit their local community.

Last year Pedal Power in Riverside were successful in securing a Community Building Grant for a new kitchen.
Executive Member for Housing, Communities and Social Justice, Cllr Judith Woodman, said: “The Community Grant scheme is a great way for local groups to improve not only their building but the services they offer their community.
“The grant Pedal Power received helped to create a new meeting place for the local community to enjoy in Riverside. I would encourage community groups to follow their example and find out more about the grant.”
Sybil Williams, Pedal Power Manager said “The Cardiff Council community building grant was really helpful for us in helping to achieve our goal of extending the kitchen and patio area. It’s proved very popular with all our customers and helped us offer a healthy menu of locally sourced food. We are looking forward to the summer to use the patio and this will mean that we can accommodate more people.”
