Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has appointed Angela Thomas as Head of Business Strategy for Social Services, Health and Housing. For the past 4 years, Angela has held the post of Principal Officer Business Support Services. Originally from Swansea, Angela holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and began her public sector career in 1978.
She has worked in Social Services for the past 15 years in areas such as finance and children services and has been with Neath Port Talbot Council since Local Government Reorganisation in 1996. She was instrumental in successfully piloting the Integrated Children System in the county borough and in it’s subsequent implementation on a national level. The system uses ICT to help social care managers and practitioners working with colleagues from other agencies to share information to improve outcomes for children in need and their families.
The role of Head of Business Strategy comes with responsibility for Resilience, directorate links with ICT, communications, complaints, workforce planning, accommodation and flexible working. Angela will also lead on the implementation and coordination of the Annual Council Reporting Framework in Neath Port Talbot, which will replace the Joint Review of Social Services.

The Directorate has a dedicated team of staff and I look forward to continue working with them to support the provision of first class services for vulnerable people in the county borough”
