Following their successful pitches to three local businessmen in a recent ‘Dragon’s Den’ event, they are now trying to sell their products.

Their business ideas impressed panelists Antony Smith from Tornado Films, Geraint Hawks from PKL Plywood and Mark Bailey from Trade Centre Wales who have decided the ventures have potential to make money.

Pupils from YGG Cwm Nedd, YGG Rhosafan, YG Y Wern, Godre’graig, Bryn, Clun and Pen Afan primaries, pitched their business plans to the Dragons who awarded £750 between seven schools with YGG Cwm Nedd receiving £225.

Some of the new business ventures include a pack of cards for every occasion targeted at men, home grown fresh herbs and a bilingual newspaper for English speaking parents of Welsh medium schools.

Congratulating the schools teams, Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said, “Pupils are being given a real opportunity to develop their business skills and by taking part will gain valuable experiences and skills to prepare them for the world of work and inspire them to become the entrepreneurs of the future.”
