Around 2,000 people enjoyed Rhondda Cynon Taf’s first free festive event of 2009 in Tonypandy on Friday.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor Cllr Robert Smith welcomed the crowds as the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
Around 70 local children took part in a lantern parade organised by Llwynypia Communities First.
Stiltwalkers entertained the crowds and there was an opportunity for youngsters to visit Santa’s Grotto and enjoy funfair rides.
Cllr Smith, said: “I was delighted to see so many people of all ages turn out to enjoy the festivities on a rather cold night. I hope many more people will join us at our forthcoming festive events.”
There will be free festive fun for all the family in the following town centres in the Rhondda:
· Ferndale – Wednesday, December 9 from 5pm-7pm at Lime Street car park
