Troupes from all over Wales will be performing alongside dancers from Russia and Sweden at the International Dance Festival at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday (July 9).

The first step in this colourful day of dance is taken at 10.30am when all participants take part in the Big Parade from the entrance up the Broadwalk.

They will then be welcomed to the Garden by director Dr Rosie Plummer before the dancing begins.

Organiser Bobbie Evans says: “There will be hundreds of dancers performing all different styles – it is going to be a lovely and very colourful occasion.”

Bobbie said it was a real coup to get the Folkdanslaget Värendsgillet from Växjǒ in Sweden as well as a return visit by Skylark and Artforge from Karelia, in north west Russia.

Those taking part from the Principality include: Cwmni Dawns Werin Caerdydd, Dawnswyr Nantgarw, Talog, Aberystwyth,  Caernarfon, Llangadfan and members of Tipyn o Bopeth.

The Garden is open from 10am-6pm and the event is sponsored by the Welsh National Folk Dance Society; D&C Travel; Dawnswyr Llanarthne; Parti Dawns Aberystwyth; and the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
