Play Area Revamp at Ty Mawr

Younger visitors to Ty Mawr country park can now take advantage of new play equipment following the completion of a £35,000 refurbishment programme funded from Waste Recycling Group Landfill Communities Fund Money, administered by WREN and Wrexham Council.

The area was officially opened by the Junior Rangers who enjoyed playing on the new fixed and natural items.

Lead Member for Environment and Transport and Deputy Leader Councillor David Bithell, said

“It is very good to see the new play area open and children enjoying the improved equipment. I know parents will appreciate the improvements as the summer holidays draw closer and they are looking for different, healthy and affordable days out for children.”

Meleri Jones, Grant Manager for WREN added

“We are able to fund all sorts of projects that improve or create a place for recreation or leisure for the enjoyment of the general public and would urge community groups and not for profit organisations to contact us to see if their project is eligible”.

The works undertaken to refurbish the play area come soon after the announcement that Cory Environmental Trust in Britain, Waste Recycling Environmental and Wrexham Council will invest £150,000 in Ty Mawr for improvement works at the park which will see a refurbished barn area turned into an all weather school room, an events room and volunteer base and extended and improved animal care facilities.
