Off-street parking schemes in Bagillt praised

Two off-street parking schemes recently completed in Bagillt have been praised by the local councillor, Councillor Mike Reece.

Plans for off-street parking at Trem Afon and Maes Walwen were included in Flintshire County Council’s Capital Programme for last year.

Prior to the work being carried out, parked cars often caused an obstruction in the two areas, causing access problems for emergency vehicles and refuse vehicles.

In Trem Afon, there had previously been limited visibility exiting the estate, and the main road traffic could not be seen. The exit was also close to a school crossing. The solution was to create a one way system with a new improved exit where vehicles could leave Trem Afon safely.

In Maes Walwen, new parking areas have also been created so residents can park safely and away from the access road.

Councillor Helen Brown, Executive Member for Housing, said:

“I am very pleased with what has been achieved in both Trem Afon and Maes Walwen. It was vital that we addressed the issues in Trem Afon in particular, and the new exit is a great improvement. I’m delighted that both these schemes have been completed through the Capital Works Scheme.”

Councillor Mike Reece said:

“I’d like to thank Clare Budden, the Council’s Head of Housing, and all the housing team for two excellent projects. I know that local residents are really pleased with the improvements to parking that have been made. This also means that service vehicles and emergency services will find it much easier to gain access to both Trem Afon and Maes Walwen.”
