Tai Ceredigion tackling issues head on

Since its formation eighteen months ago Tai Ceredigion has been working hard across the county delivering promises made to tenants before the transfer of their homes from the Council. So far the housing association has delivered over 100 promises out of the 170 made and the rest are ongoing. None are late.

The organisation has now produced its first ever Annual Report which will be handed out during their Annual General Meeting next week and available to download online. Their next step is to begin a tour of the county by holding business planning sessions with their frontline staff up and down the county to discuss priorities for next year and the future.

Councillor Hag Harris, Chair of Tai Ceredigion said “We had an extremely busy start to Tai Ceredigion in late 2009, and the first eighteen months have been a huge challenge, with both the establishment of a new Committee structure, and a number of joint working groups and forums with tenants. However, this last year has seen the successful start of the major improvement programme in the county and beginning the journey to bringing every home to meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) by 2015.”

Steve Jones, Chief Executive of Tai Ceredigion said “We have worked hard to deliver the promises made in our Offer Document by setting up housing surgeries, estate walkabouts, freephone repairs and out of hours service. We recognise the trust the tenants have put into us and we are fully committed to delivering every single promise we made in the Offer Document. This autumn will see the major improvements contracts starting, and that is why our Executive team will speak face to face to our team on the ground this month to prepare them for this mammoth task.”

Tai Ceredigion also believes in investing in local people, local communities and the local economy by creating opportunities for new jobs and apprentices. They have started delivering these new jobs and apprenticeships from day one, and aim to continue to expand these over the coming years.
