An enjoyable time was had at Porth Dinllaen beach recently as Gwynedd Council’s Biodiversity Team held a beach fun day.
It was a fantastic day with plenty of fun and games – the rock pool ramble was a particular success with over 40 children and adults taking part. The group had some amazing find
Alison Hargrave, Special Area of Conservation Officer with Gwynedd Council said:
“Everyone was amazed that Porth Dinllaen had such an abundance and variety of creatures. Much of this is due to the seagrass beds at Porth Dinllaen which provide excellent food and shelter and also act as a nursery ground for many creatures.
“This is not only important from a biodiversity aspect but also to restock our local fisheries. This is just one of the reasons why Porth Dinllaen is included the Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau Special Area of Conservation.
“We also had great fun with the sand sculpture competition. The standard was very high and it was incredibly difficult to choose a winner. Many congratulations to everyone who took part.”
The victorious team was Josie Paramor, Caitlin Paramor, Ellie Corran and Leah Williams with their sea fairy wedding with intricate detail.
