Archbishop joins Palm Sunday procession

Parishioners in Barry will be joined by the Archbishop of Wales for their Palm Sunday outdoor procession this weekend.

Dr Barry Morgan, will take part in the procession, led by a donkey, from Barry Castle to All Saints Church to mark the start of Holy Week.  It will be one of many Palm Sunday processions held in churches across Wales this weekend as they commemorate Christ’s triumphal entry to Jerusalem when, riding on a donkey, he was greeted by people waving palms and praising him.

Dr Morgan, who will lead a service at All Saints Church following the procession, said, “Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey – an animal symbolising peace and humility. That’s the Christian message for all people around us today at the start of this important week.”

The procession starts at 9.30am.
