New audio trail launched at Country Park

A new audio trail has been launched at the Council-run Holyhead Breakwater Country Park.

The 11-part audio trail is now available to download in mp3 format from the County Council’s website at www.anglesey.gov.uk or the Visit Anglesey website at www.visitanglesey.co.uk

Visitors can then learn about the former quarry’s history, geology and wildlife by listening to the trails on an mp3 player or compatible phone.

Countryside Warden, Gareth Evans, explained, “This innovative way of providing information is another example of the way the Country Park is moving forward with the times. We’re committed to providing the best possible service to the people of Anglesey and the visitors who regularly visit the park, which was recently short listed for a Times Green Space Award.”

The audio trail provides short audio passages on the history of the park and the building of the breakwater itself to the very important conservation work the wardens from the Council’s Countryside and AONB Service carry out with the grazing ponies who manage the Rocky Coast – a habitat under threat.

Another audio trail is planned for the Dingle Local Nature Reserve, in Llangefni, which has won the Forestry Commissions best Community Woodland in Wales Award for the second year running.

The bilingual audio trail can also be downloaded from the information centre at the Holyhead Breakwater Country Park.
